This canvas dated 1910 is a sketch of the portrait of Isolina Gallego de Zubiaurre, from the same date, property of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía and deposited in the Julio Romero de Torres Museum in Córdoba.

On this occasion the protagonist is Isolina Gallego de Zubiaurre, wife of Ramón de Zubiaurre, both friends of the painter. The couple visited Córdoba together with Valentín Zubiaurre. This portrait is the result of the friendship they have with the Romero de Torres family.

In this sketch the echoes of the Italian Renaissance portrait can be seen. The composition, with the model represented in three quarters, turned slightly and looking forward, the detail, the palette used, the use of sfumato, the treatment of perspective, the separation of spaces by differentiating between the first term reserved for the model and the background for the landscape, which remind us of the work of Leonardo da Vinci, so present in his work.

In the definitive portrait Isolina appears in full body, a more precise and finished work is evident, with which the vanishing lines of the landscape and the details of the embroidery and fabric of the clothing are outlined. The Renaissance influences are maintained, but hints of Goyaesque and 19th century portraits can be glimpsed.

The final canvas was part of the lot sent to the National Exhibition of 1910 and was purchased by the State.
