This portrait dated 1914 has clear allusions to the portraits of the Italian Renaissance, in which the protagonist is represented in three quarters in the foreground, dressed in a black veil and dress contrasted by the lace on the collar and white cuffs. In his hands he holds a small devotional book with which the religious vision of the subject is reinforced. Behind her, in the background, you can see an empty Andalusian patio, with semicircular arches and orange trees. Both the architecture, typical of a cloister, and the clothing and attitude of the model, aim to represent in an allegorical way the feelings and roots of religion in Andalusia, as he did in Sacred Love, Profane Love (1908), in Ángeles and Fuensanta (1909), in Flor de Santidad (1910) or in religious Córdoba from the Poema de Córdoba (1913).
