The artist created this tapestry of religious content painting directly on a thickly woven raw canvas. It makes reference to the biblical episode of Naomi and her stepdaughters. This work of symbolist influence was inspired by an illustration with the same name done by Gustave Doré for a Bible edition in 1865. The treatment of the colors is very original possibly because of its destiny as a tapestry. The viewer\’s attention is called using vaporous tones that the painter from Córdoba usually used throughout his career.
The piece shows a biblical scene where one of the stepdaughters of Naomi, Orfa, at the background of the composition, cries while coming back to the fields of Moab. Naomi hugs her stepdaughter Ruth, who refused to leave her in her return from the land of Judah.
