Portrait of a young person (Drawing)
Portrait of a young person (Drawing)

This drawing made in 1902 in pencil and charcoal responds to the interest that Julio Romero de Torres had in the trends of the Catalan, Madrilenians and Parisian modernists who developed drawing, caricature and posters at the end of the 19th century. Echoes authors such as Toulouse Lautrec or Ramón Casas are evident here. It represents with great sobriety a young woman sitting sideways in a popular-style chair and leaning on its back, on a neutral background that eliminates any issue of perspective. The painter focuses attention on the model’s face, well drawn, sober and serene
