Amalia Romero de Torres Pellicer
In this hall a series of works that represent the artist are gathered to bring us closer to him. There are caricatures of Julio Romero as well as sculptures of the painter and of his father (Rafael Romero Barros). There are works made by the painter and portraits of Julio painted by other artists. It is a hall dedicated to the poster as well because Romero de Torres participated in the well-known contemporary trend born in France of the poster as a means of communication and he made a series of works which integrate the new trend. It was the posters that definitively marked the painter’s popularity. Julio Romero de Torres’s poster-work became well-known fundamentally because of his participation in various advertising businesses, essentially because of his posters used for Bodegas Cruz Conde and La Unión de Explosivos Ríotinto.
