Popular realism in the work of Julio Romero de Torres is maintained recurrently throughout his production. This portrait is part of the series of popular female types called “good girls”, from the last years of its production. It represents a young woman in three quarters with her body turned and her face slightly facing forward. He holds an albarelo, a container formerly used in pharmacies to store drugs, made of Talavera ceramics. On this occasion he opts for the representation of the background, in which, using the aerial perspective, he includes a window as a resource to take the viewer’s gaze to the outside of the room reserved for the character.
